One Word: Love :)
Me and my Sister-In-Law, Shalee!
I love the Holidays! When Thanksgiving comes around and it is that time again… I am just happy! This time of year always seems to bring out the best in everyone and there is always love to go around! Of course it would be wonderful if everyone was so giving and full of love all year long, but I will take what I can get! And who knows….miracles can happen! Anyway, since Thanksgiving was just last week I thought I would make a list of things I am grateful for, or “a few of my favorite things” I will combine the two lists! :) So, here goes:
1. Snow! I love playing in the snow, watching it snow, dancing in the snow…Any of it! Snow is wonderful!
2. I am so incredibly grateful for my family! They are the most amazing people I know and my best friends! Although we are far from perfect, I still love them and appreciate everything they do for me and all the love and support they are constantly giving me!
3. My hair dryer. I will explain. It is cold in Rexburg and our apartment has been freezing! So yesterday before I took a Sunday nap, I used my hair dryer to warm up my bed so I could be nice and warm! My mom was concerned I was going to start a fire, but no worries. All is well!
4. I love my roommates! I live in such a wonderful apartment with amazing girls and it is such a blessing! :) I couldn’t love living here more!
5. My car. Alright, so my car is currently not working and I am carless…. but I am still grateful for it, when I can drive it!
6. I love cuddling! :) Hehe. Of course I would love to have a special someone to cuddle with… but until then I will just look forward to that!
7. Jokes! Truly one of my favorite things! I wish I had a new joke for everyday! I love to make people laugh, or at least smile! I think my all time favorite is this….. There were two muffins in an oven and one of the muffins said, “Man! It is hot in here!” The other muffin replied, “AHH! Talking muffin!” HAHA
8. Pandora! I can listen to music pretty much anywhere! And it is so good at picking the music I want to listen to!
9. Moroni 7: 45-48
10. I love going outside when it is so cold you can see your breath!
11. Going on walks!
12. Getting a good grade on a business law test!
13. Dancing… Now not just any dancing. The kind of dancing when you are at home being crazy or when you are with your roommates and you go crazy…. and just dance! :)
14. The Forgotten Carols! I love going to see this show! I haven’t been in a couple years and I didn’t get a chance to go this year! But I still love it!
15. Ice cream. Enough said.
16. Hot Chocolate. Especially Stephen’s Hot Chocolate… hmmmm!! So good! The Mint Truffle is my favorite!
17. Decorating cakes! I love being a cake decorator! One day I will be so good…. and today is not that day! Haha. But, I will get there and there will be many stressful, crazy, fun, full of laughter, memory filled moments to reach that point!
18. Day dreaming! Haha, I always do this! I will find my self in class totally drifting off into my own thoughts instead of what the teacher is teaching…. probably not the best thing. But who doesn’t love day dreaming….just a little? :)
Ok, so 18 is a pretty good amount of my favorite things for now…. haha! Life is going well and I’m trying to learn all the time. My most recent lesson….
Life is just too short to put off what is most important. If you want to take a risk and go out on that limb…. do it! You probably won’t get another chance! But make sure whatever it is, it is something you know will be good and help you learn! Don’t do crazy dangerous things! Be safe! My Dad always tells me, “Not trying is never knowing if maybe it could have been.” Don’t miss out on those opportunities that may be the very moments that shape your life!
<3
Ok, so this is my first try at this blogging thing… so I hope it goes well! :) I have noticed that in my life there are so many “little things” that I love! But I have a tendency to always want to be talking about these “little things” and those who happen to be on the other end of the conversations that involve my many “little things” might not love all the unnecessary details of my life as much as I do, so what better place to talk about them than here?
SHOES
I love shoes! It is just that simple. But what I love about shoes is not necessarily how they look but I how I feel when I am wearing them. For instance I have much more confidence when I’m wearing a pair of shoes (probably high heels) that I love instead of a normal pair of shoes. Silly I know, but it is just one of those things!
PEOPLE
Alright, people are not a small or little part of my life. But it is all the small things that happen because of people. For example, I recently made a new friend. :) A girl that sits next to me in Business Law. We have sat next to each other all semester and haven’t really spoken. One day we just became friends. Now, making new friends is not uncommon, but last week after class it was snowing. My other two classes happened to be cancelled so I was going to walk home. Then my new friend, Brittany, offered to drive me home. Her car was parked right outside the Smith building and I was back to my apartment in a jiffy! It was no big deal for her to offer the ride, but it was to me! I didn’t have to walk in the snow! Along the same lines, my sweet roommates are always offering to take me to work in the mornings so I don’t have to walk. I have great roommates!
PICTURES
Pictures are amazing! I love looking at pictures! I think it is so wonderful that a memory can be captured in a picture for years to come! I love to see pictures of people I don’t even know because they usually look so happy! Everyone needs happy memories! One of my favorite movie quotes is from ‘An Affair To Remember’ and it says, “Winter must be cold for those with no warm memories.” Well let me just say that in my opinion, pictures can trigger so many memories, hopefully good ones! So living in Idaho, it’s a good thing I have a lot of pictures! :)
MOMENTS
This one sounds a little strange, but I will explain. I love little moments when you just know that you are blessed. Elder Bednar once called them “tender mercies.” I have these moments all the time! For example almost every time I walk into my apartment there is a roommate greeting me with a happy face! I went to work today and one of the nice ladies who also works there told me a little story about her day before. We usually just exchange hello’s and not much else, but today it was just a little more. Getting an unexpected phone call from a friend I haven’t talked to in awhile or maybe just my brother…both are good phone calls. Having those “ah-ha” moments when reading my scriptures or after saying my prayers. Now on the other hand I also love moments that just make you happy and are fun. When a friend asks to go running and we just end up on a really long walk, but laugh and talk the whole way… at least a little exercise was accomplished. Or telling a joke… I love to do that! Normally I don’t get the reaction that I’m hoping for, but I like to believe that it makes a little bit happier. One of my favorite “moments” are the kind that involve boys. Hehe. Now I’ve tried to limit the ridiculous stories of this nature I tell to my roommates because I think they get sick of it, but here I will write what I want! :) What girl doesn’t love it when they unexpectedly run into that boy that they are crushing on and get to have a fun conversation with them? I love it when I just get to spend some time with that “boy,” who actually doesn’t have any idea how I feel so things are totally comfortable as just friends. I also love it when the smallest things can translate somehow into “Oh my gosh! Maybe he actually could maybe possibly like me too!” Haha. Small things, like, text messages, sitting next to them on the couch during a movie, or good, uplifting conversations, lingering looks that make my heart flutter(just a little) or my personal favorite, being able to totally and completely be myself around them and still stay friends. :)
I love all the “little things”!!
Doctrine & Covenants 64: 33 - “Wherefore, be not weary in well-doing, for ye are laying the foundation of a great work. And out of small things proceedeth that which is great.”
"I don't want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully, tailored clothes, my hair expertly coiffed, and with long, perfectly manicured fingernails.
I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking kids to scout camp.
I want to be there with a smudge of peanut butter on my shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighbors children.
I want to be there with a little dirt under my fingernails from helping to weed someone's garden.
I want to be there with children's sticky kisses on my cheeks and the tears of a friend on my shoulder.
I want the Lord to know I was really here and that I really lived."
